Hello people,
Sorry for the lack of tips last week. I was feeling a bit frazzled, and somehow the week got away with me. I haven’t forgotten you all.
I have had a strange week, with some highs and lows. Today I am feeling positive, as I have been making plans for the autumn — it seems a way off, but it’ll be upon us before we know it — I’m planing a trip away to the Lake District with four old friends and I can’t wait. Read on to hear about my trip to a yurt last week!
This week’s highlight has been walking with friends — one old, one newer, but both lovely, supportive, kind and fun. Walking is a great activity to do with someone as you can chat and talk, but also sometimes just walk in silence together, focused on the same path, comfortably quiet.
Enjoy the suggestions below, and stay well.

Stay in a yurt. Last week I went to Hampshire with a friend and we stayed for two nights together in a yurt. We do this every year, to reconnect, talk, cook on an open fire, drink wine, walk and laugh. It is one of the highlights of my year. There is something so simple and joyous about the simplicity of life in a yurt in the woods. It made me reflect on our needs as humans. Of course, shelter, food, warmth and a bathroom (!) are essential but on another, much deeper level — we must have connection: with other humans and with nature. It was very restorative for my mind in particular, and I really recommend switching off, listening to the wind in the trees and turning off the phone on your holiday, wherever you may be. Enjoy the space and time you have this summer to reflect on what you really need in your life. For me, it’s more time like this in nature.
